to this festival:
if you live closeby, check this out right now this week!
i got back home late last night from the gunks (new paltz) as i went there to camp and boulder. the weather was very pleasant i've seen in a while. i met some cool people there where we got to boulder some fairly hard problems. though i wasn't able to send all of them, they were super fun and hope to send them someday soon. some of my fingers are screaming at me as they've gotten some flappers. they're calling for some ointments now! guess my fingertips are now soft from my non-active climbing days this past year. i gotta climb often to build up callous skin! on the downside of this trip, i think i caught a cold bug. (it was in 50s in the evenings) time for me to rest now! *sneezing*
just recently, i was watching espn's sportscenter news and they were talking about homeless world cup and how they affected these homeless people. the espn team were filming the whole scene on how the team was formed in nyc for the usa team. many homeless people signed for it though many have dropped out too just because they couldn't make the commitments during the training period. not all the players made to the homeless world cup in austra (the team were supported by some sponsors and private donations) as a few players weren't able to obtain passports in time. the usa team went off to a great start with 8 wins in 9 games, but then they just faltered and placed 9th place. the tourney officials said that they hope to have homeless world cup yearly and nyc may host it next year.
now you ask me why am i bringing this up? well, i've always wanted to become a homeless bum for once because sometimes i feel like that being a homeless person can be luckier than a person who is a CEO. a homeless person is able to wander along the streets without concerns about business decisions. a homeless person can survive with minimal cash left. food and clothes are the essential things in your life. sometimes i think that a homeless person is like a bird. he can just migrate to south side for warmth during the winter time and then come back north in the summer. sometimes i do wonder if the world would survive WITHOUT money. we'd just barter around instead of depending on cash too much. i truly believe that bartering could make the society much better than using cash. this would enhance many people's communication skills and reduce the social orders. i've always thought that a homeless person's life is much more intriguing than an ordinary working person. also one more thing, it really SUCKS to see how a corporate world tries to get into shelterless world by asking a homeless person to hold a cardboard ad as part of their marketing strategies. it's just part of what a global corporate culture is about. sometimes i just wish that some people can just leave the homeless people alone. (though i know some of them do need help) they truly do have my respect! you go, you bums!
i finally got a clean haircut. now i'm back to an old-self gabe. no more shaggedy do for me! it feels sooo MUCH better to have short hair. now i do have huge respect for ladies who have long hair. everyone now says that i look younger.. much like a college student or so ;-) i don't know whether to take it as a good or bad sign.
btw, if you guys happen to be in nyc, check this exhibitition called _american effects_ at whitney museum. such an intriguing artwork from foreign artists about our homeland.
we just got three guests crashing at our place this weekend. one's from NZ and two are from finland. what's so cool about being in a deaf community is many deafies tend to welcome many deaf foreigners with an open door. anyway, today is susie's birthday and we're heading to the bronx zoo today if weather permits... if we are, i hope to get all the animals to join us in singing happay barthday to suz *growls... barks... buzzes... grunts...*

seems like we got a few celebrities waiting in line to run the golden state. but boy, larry, i really DON'T mind having him leading the charge for california. more strip joints, legalize the hash, and more casinos. we'd be the only in the state of america to bring many controversies to the congress' table daily thus making our first ever 'sin' labeled on a STATE. wow, i love being a californian yet i'm stuck in nyc being tagged with many senseless ordinances.
i think i moved to nyc too late...
