last night, suz and i took a nice stroll to lake michigan, only a few blocks from my place. it was such a gorgeous, warm night and here's what i found at our 'fave' romantic spot.
Kudos to Chicago!
just got back home from arizona. here's a picture of me taken at my alma mater's campus. i have to say that UA has changed little bit. there's a new student union building, freshman center which all the classrooms are underground in the mall (i think UA's trying to use this underground shelter for freshmen peepos to hide from seniors.)

tucson was pretty dead when i took a long stroll along 4th ave and UA campus. there were many new faces and i don't even know anyone in tucson at this moment because all of my ol' friends have left tucson already. anyway, back to world cup, i saw the second half of germany-s. korea game this morning. i gotta give s. korea a big hand for making it far. i believe that i will see brazil-germany at the final with brazil coming with the world cup trophy!!!
she's very annoying.
she can be dumb.
she can be informative.
she can't handle swearin' well.
if you have AOL or AOL's AIM, try to im her at SmarterChild
my friend has been obsessed with her for the last 5 months. he really can't get it over with her. i guess he's a subject of human experiment.
let's take a moment to reflect back and see how internet has changed our lives:

so thank you, lawrence roberts, vinton cerf, charley kline, and other internet pioneers for making our lives more entertaining and interesting than our parents had.
heh... a friend of mine whose family is from s. korea may know nothing about soccer, but she came with this wonderful quote after s. korea eliminated italy in the OT: "we fried up their italian sausages into our hot kimchee soup! what a quite good game despite the aggressive parts!" susie had a few foreigners crash at our place last night and they even woke up early to watch s. korea play. they were going wild when s. korea tied the game with a goal with a few minutes left! i hope that usa will get some high world cup fever when we play germany this friday!
i watched the usa-mexico's world cup game last night. the usa definitely got me hooked to its live matches. now we're in quarterfinals and my hopes of seeing brazil-usa in the final game are starting to be very realistic only if the usa pulls off an upset over germany this friday (i hope i can watch it while in arizona) and then either s. korea or spain. usa seems to play well against big-name teams. usa's now at 1-45 on oddsmaker's list. i hope that the usa will finally start to be more educated about this sport of futbul aka soccer!
we're in the second round now and will play mexico. the usa-poland this morning had me scared for a while and i was flickin' back and forth on this game and s. korea-portugal game! i guess s. korea wanted us to get in regardless of ohno-kim's incident back at the winter olympics!
i watched the movie last night with a group of friends. i thought that the plot was great but it was a predictable one for me to figure out. my gf was puzzled about this movie because there were many 'spies' out there. i wonder if women do dig 'spy' and 'militaristic' movies such as tom clancy's movies? why is that many women dig romantic flicks while we the men dig action/militaristic ones? machoism is one thing, but if we are created to be equal, can't we just try to find ladies who dig action ones? won't be surprised if many dykes do dig them, and find the men who like romantic ones and that wud be sensitive guys or gays? the world is a full of complex analysis and this includes this stuff i've just came up with. i guess i'm just rambling here, but then i love those 'what if' stuff. wudn't it be cool to come up with a list of 'what if'? perhaps i should do that here someday!
wow... they're OUT of the tourney. buh buh! what's next? i hope not brasil! i've been rooting for brasil ever since i saw them play live against cameroon back in world cup '94 when they played at stanford university's stadium! these brazilians truly know how to appreciate the game! go brasil all the way!
it was nice to see chicago being plastered with heavy rain. i got even soaked wet already while running to nearby to get my car from a grocery store. it reminds me of a monsoon season in arizona. i certainly miss walking on the sidewalk in the hot rainy environment as well as get splashed by the running cars during the minor floodings. such a refreshing relief from the scorching sun!
last night, i stayed up late to watch the usa-korea game. boy, it was a great game between these teams. brad friedel the goalie for usa was definitely the man that pretty much handled the whole game. he made a few brilliant saves including one on the penalty shot! without these saves, korea would probably have won the game by the score of 4-1, but instead we survived with a tie, 1-1, and we got the POINT. there's a high chance that we will advance to next round with at least tie or win against poland. go USA!!! i'm starting to believe in them now with all the talents that USA has. beasley is friggin' unbelievable FAST yet he's only 20 years old!
Anyway, the weekend was pretty productive i must say. i got to see two art festivals in old town, wells st. art festival and triangle festival. it was nice to see all varieties of art, especially photographs. there were many booths exhibiting photographs and i saw one showing guilin. i think guilin is starting to grab the people's notice with its massive landscape and unique rock towers. i'm just lucky to able to visit guilin before it becomes a 'touristy' spot. here's the link for more information about guilin:
http://www.chinavista.com/travel/guilin/main.html
it's a must visit spot on your traveling list! well, i do have lots of things to throw here, but then i realize that my precious time is ticking at work so i have to stop here for now. one more thing, GO USA!!!

This is an actual class taught by this actual Chinese woman who claims to be an authority on the subject, if there is such a thing:
http://www.attractasianwomen.com/
a friend of mine knows someone who actually wrote about this site:
"Ming Tan's class just baffles me. I can't get over it. It just seems like some sick kind of joke. I'm not sure what bothers me most... the fact that this class, which sooooooo caters to creepy men with an Asian fetish, actually exists, or the fact that's it's being taught by an Asian woman who claims to be an authority on the matter. Could it be that she genuinely believes she is offering the public, Asian-seekers and Asian women alike, some kind of progressive, benevolent service? Then she is seriously misguided. The class and everything behind her teaching promotes the stereotypes and the exoticization of Asian women.
"It's also been suggested to me that she's just trying to cash in on the Asian fetish... since right now most of the money made from such exploitation usually goes to white males. In that case, it seems Ming Tan is just turning it around, reaping some of the benefits as an Asian woman herself. That may be true, but it doesn't help anyone. Doesn't matter where the money's going --it still exploits the ugly, ugly nature of the Asian fetish. Ming Tan may be cashing in, but all of the other Asian ladies have to suffer the consequences of her "teachings," and fend off all her FREAK "students.""
my gf is an asian and i do love her for what she does the best... she's being herself!
btw, i think i got a football fever. i finally stayed up late last night to watch the senegal - denmark match and boy it was an exciting game and only had a few hours of sleep afterward. strangely, i don't feel too tired at all! perhaps i shud sleep right after work for the next few weeks and watch the matches during the twlight zone!
wow, the usa has defeated portugal! i was planning to get up early this morning to watch some of this game, but unfortunately, i was too tired to get my arse out of bed and almost overslept. our next opponent is a country where its food specialty is dog. hope we'll kick its ass and then we'll be good to go to the next round instead of worryin' about poland.
anyway, it seems like for the last few days, my body has been tired lately... i guess it has to do with my canker sore. if any of you ever have a canker sore, don't you actually feel tired? i wish that there's a cure for it. i've always thought of just scraping off the canker sore out and let my cells recuperate immediately instead of waiting for the virus in my canker sore to fade away which can take a couple of weeks!
this rainy morning, i was waiting for an el train at diversey station, and kept waiting, waiting. there was an el train being stuck just by wellington just one stop from diversey station (probably mechanical problem). the deck was pretty filled with many commuters with umbrellas. pity that woman who was just few steps from me just dropped her cell phone and it went through the tracks. i caught her saying 'SHIT!' and the lady next to me was telling a commuter, "that really sucks!" i'm going through in my head that it's actually fun to watch this situation when you're deaf lipreading 'em and seein' their actions details by details. that was my highlight of my 75 minute trip for today. i just hope that i won't be late for my doctor appointment today in the afternoon! oh yeah, i arrived at work like 40 minutes late, but then i have to thank the technology as i was able to contact my boss with my pager for my tardiness. i'd rather go through unusual situation often than doing the daily routine. it's nice to do something different.
btw, china lost in the world cup last night. now my hopes for this underdog team to the next round is diminishing...
i know there've been many 'bushy' jokes, but this is pretty hysterical.
poor bush...

saturday evening : i was driving with my windows open, and then out of the blue, i feel the cold blast wind into me! wow, interesting how weather functions...
sunday : cool rain
chicago has such an unpredictable weather. it seems like this spring have been toying with us. 50s and 80s weathers and rarely perfect ideal conditions for me (60-70s) ackk... i think i'm not ready for the summer yet!
