just recently, i was watching espn's sportscenter news and they were talking about homeless world cup and how they affected these homeless people. the espn team were filming the whole scene on how the team was formed in nyc for the usa team. many homeless people signed for it though many have dropped out too just because they couldn't make the commitments during the training period. not all the players made to the homeless world cup in austra (the team were supported by some sponsors and private donations) as a few players weren't able to obtain passports in time. the usa team went off to a great start with 8 wins in 9 games, but then they just faltered and placed 9th place. the tourney officials said that they hope to have homeless world cup yearly and nyc may host it next year.
now you ask me why am i bringing this up? well, i've always wanted to become a homeless bum for once because sometimes i feel like that being a homeless person can be luckier than a person who is a CEO. a homeless person is able to wander along the streets without concerns about business decisions. a homeless person can survive with minimal cash left. food and clothes are the essential things in your life. sometimes i think that a homeless person is like a bird. he can just migrate to south side for warmth during the winter time and then come back north in the summer. sometimes i do wonder if the world would survive WITHOUT money. we'd just barter around instead of depending on cash too much. i truly believe that bartering could make the society much better than using cash. this would enhance many people's communication skills and reduce the social orders. i've always thought that a homeless person's life is much more intriguing than an ordinary working person. also one more thing, it really SUCKS to see how a corporate world tries to get into shelterless world by asking a homeless person to hold a cardboard ad as part of their marketing strategies. it's just part of what a global corporate culture is about. sometimes i just wish that some people can just leave the homeless people alone. (though i know some of them do need help) they truly do have my respect! you go, you bums!
