chicago has such an unpredictable weather. it seems like this spring have been toying with us. 50s and 80s weathers and rarely perfect ideal conditions for me (60-70s) ackk... i think i'm not ready for the summer yet!

My wife and two other couples were on our boat a couple of years ago (2000 or 2001). It was during the Taste Of Chicago.

As we came in from Hammond, we noticed a huge dark cloud floating stationary over the city. It covered the tops of most of the downtown buildings.

As we came into shore, the large cloud formed a cone or tip and came down over our boat. It was shaped like a tornado funnel cloud but there was no wind. The funnel moved down slowly until its tip was about 15 feet above our boat. There was no wind and the air was very calm. The smoke from the Taste was barely moving out over the lake.

The tip of the funnel started to slowly circle horizontally. Then a very powerful micro burst of super cold air shot straight down and hit the water around us, stirring up a mist of water and scaring the hell out of my wife and friends.

Then, another small cloud about 20 feet in diameter formed right above the Shed Aquarium. It was a small oval gray cloud that churned or boiled violently. A dark shaft of vapor or something shot out of the small cloud and arched down from over the shed and almost touched the water in front of the large funnel cloud and our boat. The two clouds then slowly dispersed.

Can you help me find someone with photos or video
footage of this weird weather? It was the most amazing thing we have ever seen. It was almost spiritual.
